Welcome

Zeitgeist is defined as the spirit of the age – the intellectual, artistic, cultural, ethical and political climate, ambience, and morals of an era.

An interdisciplinary student magazine at the University of South Carolina, Zeitgeist is a collective effort to expose USC’s undergraduate community to the engaging and provocative contemporary issues about which their peers are thinking, learning, and researching.

Zeitgeist is a bi-annual (once a semester) publication. Each issue contains several well researched articles/reviews/essays which embody a theme common to that issue. The journal is run and written by undergraduate students from a variety of disciplines–we encourage participation from as many departments as possible, from the sciences, to the arts, to the humanities. USC faculty and community members are also asked to share their experience and expertise each issue in the form of articles and interviews. Our goal is to strengthen Carolina’s sense of intellectual camaraderie, to challenge and learn from one another’s perspectives on a diversity of pressing questions.

We’re currently working on our second issue, On Assumptions, which will be released at the beginning of Fall semester 2010.
